Looking to help frost-sensitive plants through the winter without effort? kiwwl® , the planter you can heat supports the safe outdoor hibernation of your exotic and Mediterranean plants. The pot’s integrated root heating and excellent insulation properties ensure that inside your kiwwl® the temperature of the soil remains at a frost-free +3 to +8 °C, even in the lowest outdoor temperatures. The kiwwl® plant pot is thus an eye-catching addition to any garden or terrace in all seasons.
kiwwl® is an eye-catching yet functional plant pot for both outdoor and indoor use. With its capacity of 280 litres, it is offering large potted plants plenty of rootspace. Thanks to the integrated resistance heating, it supports the safe outdoor overwintering of valuable exotic and Mediterranean plants.
The body consists of a double-walled glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) shell approx. 3 – 5 mm thick, with a UV and weather-resistant gelcoat surface and filled with rigid polyurethane foam. The sandwich structure offers extraordinarily high stability at a relatively low weight.
Due to its excellent insulating properties in combination with the smart heating control and integrated heat sensor, kiwwl® defies even the most extreme weather conditions while simultaneously offering low electricity consumption.
The drainage hole in the bottom can also be used for invisible cable routing, allowing an effective lighting of your plants.
The integrated heating consists of a resistance wire and 2 thermal sensors which are laminated into the inner wall of the plant pot. Thus, there are no annoying cables or heating mats in the planting area.
The heating control is pre-set to +9 °C. If temperature at the thermal sensors drops below this level, the heating automatically switches on. As soon as the thermal sensors reach +10°C, the heating switches off again.
Due to the plant pot’s excellent insulation, the temperature in the root area constantly remains between +3 and +8 °C, even in extremely cold weather. Thanks to the precise heating regulation, the planter uses very little electricity. In field trials, consumption over the whole winter was just 4 – 10 kWh.
Please note: Other than in the images shown here, the stem and crown of the plant may require additional protection against frost.
kiwwl® undergoes a complex manufacturing process. It is laminated in hand lay-up before being filled with foam through a PUR high-pressure foam moulding machine. Finally, the parts are finished by hand and polished to a high gloss.
The planter is made from high-quality materials also used in sanitary installations, yacht building, and the automotive industry.
kiwwl® is “Made in Germany”. From design and construction, to the making of the moulds and the production of the plant pots, all process steps are carried out at the company’s Waghäusel site.
For indoor use, kiwwl® is also available without heating system and without drainage hole.
